As Kerala moves towards celebrating the 75th anniversary of its formation in 2031, the Department of Higher Education will host a one-day state-level seminar titled “Vision 2031 – Future Development Goals of the Department of Higher Education” on October 18 at K. C. Mammen Mappillai Hall, Kottayam.
Dr. R. Bindu, Hon’ble Minister for Higher Education and Social Justice, will formally present the Vision Document. Shri V. N. Vasavan, Hon’ble Minister for Co-operation, Ports, and Devaswom, will preside over the inaugural session. Prof. C. T. Aravindakumar, Vice Chancellor, Mahatma Gandhi University, will deliver the welcome address, and Dr. Bismi Gopalakrishnan, Registrar, Mahatma Gandhi University, will propose the vote of thanks during the valedictory session. Parallel sessions will also be held at BCM College and Baselius College, Kottayam.
The seminar aims to bring together academicians, researchers, educators, students, administrative personnel, and public figures to deliberate on the key challenges and opportunities shaping the future of higher education in Kerala.
A series of interactive sessions and panel discussions will focus on a wide range of vital themes — including university governance and reforms; technology-enabled learning; curriculum design; pedagogy; and teacher training. Participants will also discuss emerging priorities such as research, innovation, and knowledge creation; skill development and vocational education; globalization and the “Study in Kerala” initiative; social engagement and educational values; and quality assurance, accreditation, and infrastructure enhancement.
Vision 2031 is a forward-looking initiative aimed at transforming Kerala’s academic landscape, promoting excellence, inclusivity, and global competitiveness across the higher education sector.
